Smile

Pledge the badge of loyalty
Sing the songs of hypocrisy
Hiding under the name of democracy
While matching in the name of bureaucracy

When was the last time you saw your smile
When was the last time you saw your family smile
When was the last time you saw your neighbor smile
When was the last time you saw your country smile

Summer rains in people’s face
The innocent are in search of grace
The hearts of the good is on a verge of misplace
Collectively we are in a state of disgrace

I saw the fear in an innocent man
Who fell victim to the politics of scam
He knew nothing of their selfish plan
While expecting thy mail, thy became their mailman

When was the last time you saw your own tear
Despite knowing everyone around you survives under fear
Might you be so heartless that you do not even care
I suggest you look in the mirror before looking into others’ affair

They say’ even a lonely wolf ends up in a pack
To survive one needs to learn how to counter their attack
Take a wrong move and you might end up being their snack
Thus, one step at a time with your eyes behind your back

The hidden tears in our eyes
Do result to violence in disguise
Regardless of the storm brewing in the skies
It never hurts to wipe away someone else’s cries

Smiling is one amongst the greatest of gifts
With the most minimal of efforts one could uplift
No matter how strong, an emotion can succumb to a shift
With a smile on your face, one could never face defeat

Do your best to make yourself smile
Do your best to make your family smile
Do your best to make your neighbor smile
Do your best to make your country smile

Political Scar

Politics of scars
We all bear the injuries to their lies
Falsehood of nobility, they won the nobel prize
Trips to London, they are always first in line

It’s been a sad journey from the dawn
My soul is depleting under the sun
The rays that should console are burning my lawn
Left to right it is fire burning from the ground

Politics of scars
We all bear the injuries to their lies
Falsehood of nobility, they won the nobel prize
Trips to London, they are always first in line

They say the lion’s heart will protect us when the storm comes
I guess we are doomed if the lions heart pilots the storm
It’s always raining under the sun but the tears does not fall from the sky
Soaked in the blood of the innocent, they enjoy their lives

We live through political scars
Chairs of responsibility are thrown outside the door
Our family tree is surviving on broken branches
While the roots are burning into ashes

We are growing apart, 60 years and counting
It puts me to tears watching my country die
Nigerians need a break, from all this political victimising
The political scars we bear continues to be horrifying

Too much silence is killing us from the inside
False news keep misinforming our conscience
To what crime have we committed to deserve such sentence
An overcrowded prison of mind for our nation’s citizens

Sight of belief, we live to only say goodbye
Rest in peace after peace–after peace, I wonder where is the peace
Prayer after prayers after prayers that the bloodshed should cease
Hopefully?! we blindly call on hope to get us off our knees

The golden Charmer

Knighted child in golden armor

Mattered not should ye be son to a farmer

A lawyer, doctor or even a Governor

The circle of life never existed in only one harbour

Yet this reality can be manipulated by a charmer

Knighted child in golden armor

Life seemed flexible from every angle in the mirror

Once away from the shadows of leisure

One would find the storm had never been heavier

Ye had only been sheltered under the family umbrella

A tradition of cosset

Shielded from all obstacles from birth

Ye’s Kindred meant no harm but good

Little did they forget the jungle is made of different woods

Some might be hard, and some soft

Ones Texture dictates the rationale behind his growth

A tradition of cosset

A facade to the feeble minded

A misplacement of value

Such tender a generation where trust weighs more than truth

A rooted foundation that warps our youth

Stories are told

Yet the truth remains to unfold

If the ultimate power is control

Then, a knighted child was only a means to a certain goal

How destructive a force yet attractive like gold

A knighted child in golden armor

Fell victim to the tradition of cosset

In plain sight is the absence of physical harm

While being ignorant to the notion of mental and emotional wants

To survive, the golden child needs to develop his personal charm

One More Miles

When the road seems dark

and the storm begins to hound at you

thunder after thunder that forced your eyes to rain a drop or two

when all hope is by the edge

the least of your pain is your head

when your life seems pointless

it becomes very easy for you to lose your focus

Everything becomes personal

A little banter and you feel insulted

the available ears doesn’t seem to listen

so you become reckless and your attitude careless

You ponder about death but it is not an option

You start to think to yourself why life isn’t fair

you somehow have the strength but the energy has disappeared

the storm gets heavier and no one seems to care

you start to hope for light from any angle

“You will get a different mind frame when you have been through the jungle”

Your stress turns into depression

A little misunderstanding turns into aggression

you begin to lose all hopes on salvation

now your daily routine is just going through the motion

where every second of the day you are in your emotions

You should not count what you have lost

For counting will not alter your past

The future is unknown

A reality that awaits to be foretold

Shall Ye keep Ye head high, Ye has one more mile to go

With patience comes perseverance

but to begin with, your situation needs your wholehearted acceptance

if whatever pain is temporary

it is only right you strive relentless for your happiness

because this is your journey, and you have one more mile to go

20 Questions (it’s Never too late)

What happened to the Human Sanity

How would things change in my community

Why do we have to suffer from our FAMILY TREE

Where could we find ourselves peace

When can we put ourselves on the right side of history

What happened to our Human Will

How did we allow them dwindle our humanity

Why do we have to suffer from our FAMILY TREE

Where can we go in search of harmony

When do we gear up to revamp our society

What happened to Human Love

How difficult is it to find joy

Why do you use your pain as a reason to destroy

Where in your journey did you lose hope

When will you be ready to embrace your people not just the ones at home

What happened to your Human Rights

How did you let it fly off like a kite

Why are you always waiting for someone to take control of your life

Where inside you can you awaken the fight

When will you be ready to experience Life!

Insane Love ❤️

I gave my heart out

I was tricked, happiness took a different route

Only to get back pain

The type that drives you insane

I fell in love

But it made my eyes rain

Little drops that ends with a nagging headache

The type that drives you insane

I feel victim to sleepless nights

Left and right turns on my sofa bed

Having light kisses with a couple mosquitoes that cared

The type that drives you insane

I was lonely but not single

I got confused about what to do

The thinking process multiplied my nagging headache

The type that drives you insane

I found myself with painkillers

Suddenly, I noticed I was missing the heart that pumps blood to my brain

A couple dead cells that led to migraine

They type that drives you insane

They sold me out on love

The beauty of innocence it share

The vulnerability and sacrifices towards whom you care

The type that drives you insane

I want to give my heart out

I want to fall in love

I want the happiness on sleepless nights

Not the type that drives you insane

A Gift

I am a gift to man

A blessing in one

I am only Human

I have been through the sorrows

and Still optimistic about tomorrow

As I row the boats to the future

Unity says peace

A gift we all decree

A gift of divinity

I am a gift to man

A blessing given to all

Another smile of joy

I am a gift to man

A blessing in one

I am only Human

Buoyant

Day by day

Baby steps at the bay

One day at a time

one day you will be out of time

Today not tomorrow

for later might be sorrow

I can I will

Regardless the blood & sweat I spill

Discipline is a motto

Lets paint it as 2019 The Photo

Negativity will always linger

A fuel that makes the brave stronger

26 years they had Nelson Mandela

A determined soul shall always prosper

1 mouth & 2 Ears, probability says it all

Ye that is wise, knows ye does not know it all

but Ye that is dumb does not know, ye does not know at all.

Tussle with Pressure

I know you are afraid of the stars

I can see the depression right through your eyes

It has put you down and left you with scars

I can see the pain as you blow the smokes through your cigar

I could be your angel but this journey is for one

I will be right here where you left me when all is set and done

I will always be there for you till the end

whatever challenge, it could only shake us but never break us

done are the days when a ‘say’ could come between us

A bond this strong, ask zelda about ‘Doku tree’

No matter the load, I know you will break free

don’t listen to them, your struggles is my cup of tea

if I am the door then you are the key

even when I am alone, you are with me

However dangerous, the beauty of the ocean is something to see

no matter the pain, I still see the smile in the frowns you put for me

from the roots is where we build the branches to our family tree

no matter the storm all we shed off is some leafs

remember our dance moves when we hear the sound of the wind

whatever the pressure, it could never get through our skin

Life experience has moulded us through what we have been

life lessons we witness through every scene

with time comes patience and whatever it is becomes history

You

I know you think the source of my joy is you

I have been around and now I have you

I have tried not, never to neglect you

I have dug from deep down just to love you

I felt it in your heart every time I hug you

I see it in your eyes every time I’m with you

I sense it in your spirit every time I kiss you

Since day one I’ve tried never to doubt you

I don’t know how it is I wake and find you

I close my eyes and I dream you

I open my eyes and I see you

What…how….why is it always just you

I have seen the so called world beauties and they ain’t you

Even from far they cannot match you

They’ll play the game of statistics but their sum cannot add you

They could be canceled with only a fraction of you

Should it be a blessing for me to have you

The challenge of love has in-prisoned me and you

Should I escape I will escape with you

Should I be cured I will cure you

Should I fall it will always be for you

I look into the mirror and I love you

I look away and I miss you

I know both you and I are lucky to have you
